Dealing with an unexpected pregnancy can lead to a whirlwind of emotions. It may cause you to doubt your goals and aspirations for the future.

The key to making decisions you are comfortable with rests in receiving answers to all of your questions. Then, using your values and goals as a lens, you must consider each option using critical thinking.

Get Tested

You might wonder why you need a second pregnancy test done. We know you likely took one at home and, while reliable, there are instances where a false result has happened (you might have even taken three). When you come in, we will offer a free pregnancy test to double check your at-home result. Most importantly is that you get a verification signed by our nurse. You will need a signed pregnancy verification to begin your next step of care including; prenatal care, applying for insurance or MediCal, and even abortion.

The next step, if the pregnancy test is positive, is to have an ultrasound done in order to confirm the viability of your pregnancy. Our ObGyn will review your ultrasound to determine if your pregnancy is viable or not. They also check to see how far along the pregnancy is to make sure it is not an ectopic pregnancy, which can be very dangerous.

It is important to get tested for a STI. An untreated STI can cause serious complications [1]. Additionally, an untreated STI could lead to pelvic inflammatory disease [2] if an abortion is performed. Pregnancy Care Clinic offers free STI testing.
